All civilizations are around for centuries and even then they persist as derivatives. Rome wasn’t abandoned but evolved and became Italy.
But their historical establishment is brief by comparison. For example, Ancient Greece peaked between 500 and 300 BC though its remnant still persists, however hobbled by the decline of time.
America is past its peak; otherwise, notions of “making it great again” would not have been relevant. We are in the first derivative phase. If we weren’t, we’d still be looking for great art and intrepid explorers. We’d still be changing and becoming, not regressing.
It will persist but its establishing cultural history is behind us.
It is not impossible to have a resurgence, and it is likely that, economically, we will because that is an earthly system dedicated to power and, for now, we’re what the world can’t deny. But it’s not likely we will have a genuinely cultural resurgence. Our schools, our discourse, our curiosity, our arts have flatlined. These are not easy to fix with a booming economy. Wealth is inconsequential, even destructive, to spirit.
